Homeschooling Day 7

First off, please stay home unless absolutely necessary. Clearly the worst is yet to come for our area.

At the moment though, everyone here is happy and healthy and socially distanced.
Today's learning topic (and big hit) was plants!
Our little starts have made amazing progress in just 5 days.
The we're very excited to track the progress.
Another beautiful day. Can you spot the kids?
Then super prep doubled as craft prep!
Egg blowing!
The eggs were then turned into Ravioli!
But the biggest hit of the night was David's new 'dam'. It doubles as a bridge. The inspiration is from Frozen 2.

Monday

Lucky for me all my students came back! This morning was a rougher Monday for the kids. No specific complaints, but certainly didn't wake up happy.
They were troopers and still made a go of the day and their assignments.
in the afternoon we escaped for almost two hours in the backyard, foregoing naps. They covered a lot of ground before they were finally bated inside by snacks.
Games continued until dance.
Our tiny dancer

Sunday

You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things and by your will they were created and have their being.

Thanks be to the Lord for the blessings we received this past week and coming. We are rejoicing that his mercies are new each morning.

Sunday
Banana Pancakes + chocolate chips (aka David's version)
Keeping up - less than 10 minutes apart
Shop time with DadJohn bringing another of David's dreams to reality.
Planting the Lima beans. We're both skeptical. The mold had started growing fast than the beans.
Another night in the kitchen.

Take time. Pick up your Bible. Read it. Not just a verus here or there, but read it. Chapters at a time. The new testament is our covenant. Start there. In all this extra at home, I hope you find time for this!

Soaking up Saturday

We have no where to go or no where we need to be. And it feels so good.
The morning was slow and filled with lots of laughter and play. John made breakfast for the kids while I got some time to workout.
Lots of smiles while I caught up on the mail. After picking up a bit, we grabbed snacks and headed down to the studio.
We all got some painting time. I asked them if they wanted to listen to the Frozen 2 sound track and they requested the Andrea Bocelli station instead. I love these kids so much 😍
And after this and a late lunch, they still took naps. Which is so awesome.
I got some time to read and sort photos. Then I was joined by Kathryn for some cards.
Then we headed out to enjoy the beautiful day.
So much fun packed into a day! Hot tub time, video call with Shelby, dinner in, and then the 'fun night' planned by Kathryn and David. That included games and a dance party. And a beautiful sunset.
Hope you can soak up your Sunday too!

Happy Friday

Sorry I forgot to hit post then managed to delete it🀦

We feel pretty good about making it to Friday. The day started with some math and school time.
We all like the math. Then we started a new 'science' project, starting seeds! This has been on my bucket list for some time, but now we have more time to tend to the seeds.
We started by sanitizing the tray and soaking the plugs. This is a Parks Seed Biodome Kit.
Next they put the plugs in the tray and added the seeds.
Then they started a new journal logging Day 1 of the seeds. The seeds joined the others under the grow light
Success is definitely questionable, but we're trying new things! Before the promised movie time, the kids finished the morning with some independent reading.
In the afternoon, they got the long awaited movie time (Frozen 2, of course). I spent the time scurrying trying to catch up at work.
To my surprise, after the movie they elected for some digital reading time over play.
Their shirts are off because they are sooo hot while I'm freezing. Here's to a lazy and relaxing weekend 😊

Day 4 - So far so good

Well, honestly I feel pretty good about today.
We started with rewards for good and studious behavior the last few days. David is sporting new boots while Kathryn has on her Easter dress. Both were big hits (and ordered a couple of weeks ago).
Kathryn worked hard on learning regrouping. She was quick to point out this is a second grade skill. David did a great job of charting and ten frame.

They worked on a science/stem activity from Kathryn's class. David made a leprechaun trap and Kathryn made a tooth fairy trap. (If you have any leprechauns or fairies, I'd like to fill the traps!)
They were so eager to work on the whiteboard. We did the regoruping for Kathryn and letters and sounds for David. (I think I #nailed it today). Here's some creative white board time.
While all of this fills my heart, I'm also very thankful for the basics.
John went to the grocery store. Bless him!!!! And I got the cutest little helper to prep the veggies.
We've only been out of frresh veggies 2 days. Hardly an extended hardship. That said, I'm much more appreciative of them. The kids were even excited to have them back for dinner. Dinner tonight was beef stew, fresh bread, and veggies. Let's see how long 5lb of carrots last πŸ€”.
Love you all - HH
